A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) / CAREGIVER
As a DSP in this entry-level human services position, you play an essential role in implementing individual prescriptive plans (IPPs) for our clients with developmental disabilities. You attend the appropriate in-services, conferences, workshops, programs, and other meetings as needed as well as initiate a variety of instructional and recreational activities for your clients. To maintain client satisfaction, you assist with transferring clients which sometimes involves using mechanical lifts as well as teaching and modeling appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors. You also help them with various aspects of personal hygiene, including oral, bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and hair care.
In addition, you maintain all necessary documentation in IPPs such as behavior sheets, incident reports, personal assistance sheets, time cards, service logs, and medication records. Maintaining acceptable work standards, you ensure that you always show up on time, complete an array of housekeeping tasks to keep our facility clean, and check that your client is always accounted for. You travel to different locations when necessary, including in the event that a client needs to be transported to an appointment or community activity. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) / CAREGIVER

Valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and proof of insurance

Ability to pass a background check, TB test, and drug screening upon hire
