Under minimal supervision, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) influences professional role competence and professional growth of clinical staff in a variety of settings across the organization. The CNE is responsible for developing, implementing, delivering and/or facilitating orientation/onboarding, skills labs, Just-in-Time (JIT) training and specialty programs. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Educator performs clinical practice consultation, and develops clinical policies and standards that reflect evidence-based practice and meet national quality standards for patient care.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts, evaluates, and revises on-boarding and orientation for clinical staff
- Measures, documents, supports competency development and competency management including addressing deficiencies through Skills Fairs, JIT, and remedial training. Is a resource for clinical scope of practice for RN, LPN, and MA staff. Develops, coordinates, and/or performs clinical audits as assigned
- Designs, delivers, and/or facilitates educational activities for organizational program initiatives and to address practice gaps for identified target audience(s), including core competency, skills labs, JIT, remedial training, workshops
- Identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of lifelong learning which allows for professional role development including role transition, role integration, skill acquisition, and mastery as learners advance from novice to expert. Includes but is not limited to RN Residency, Preceptor Training, Clinical Ladder, RN Learning Day, RN Lead Training
- Consults/reviews/develops clinical policies/procedures/guidelines/standard work as assigned. Serves as a resource for documentation standards in electronic medical record (EMR)
- Collaborates with interprofessional teams, leaders, key stakeholders, and others to facilitate clinical practice and positively impact patient outcomes. Participates in committees and workgroups
- Participates in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement activities to raise the level of practice by clinical staff
- Maintains current knowledge and competency in nursing and professional development. Responsible for own professional growth and development

Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license through the State of Washington
- Knowledge of current national ambulatory care practice standards per the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH), and other quality/regulatory agencies
- 5 years current clinical experience as an RN
- Experience in developing clinical training content, using adult learning principles
- Previous experience training and coaching clinical staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- Current ambulatory experience
- Experience developing and/or consulting on development of policies, protocols, and standard work
- Project management experience
Washington Residents Only: The salary range for Washington residents is $67,800 to $133,100 annually.
