SUMMARY
Verifies, inspects, and keeps records of incoming & outgoing shipments. Performing inspection of incoming and outgoing products.
Verifies and completes packing lists, BOL and Computer-generated shipping documents, using Federal Express, UPS, XPO and broker electronic freight websites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Receiving Responsibility :
- Verifying, inspecting, and counting delivered items
- Unloading, sorting, and storing items in designated areas
- Processing receiving and returns computer transactions
- Tagging and labeling items according to departmental procedures
- Keeping dock area and outside unloading area clear of parts to ensure there is space for new incoming materials.
- Executes housekeeping functions, mopping, sweeping and emptying trash weekly to keep shipping, inspection and all aisleways clean and clear.
- Breaks down cardboard boxes for recycling.
- Follows written and oral instructions to perform tasks accurately.
- Other shop duties as needed or required
- Operates pallet jacket and hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from receiving and shipping to storage or work area.
Shipping Responsibility :
- Builds up to 20 wood crates for shipping equipment safely and secure to jobsites (up to 50% of the job is crating)
- Boxes equipment in standard box and / or affixed to pallet and boxed
- Determines best way to support product and ship
- Handles shipping of finished products and materials
- Examines outgoing products to ensure shipments meet specifications listed on packing list.
- Trains on oxygen cleaning requirements for equipment.
- Verifies the packing list to confirm all items to be packaged are correct and in good condition
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Utilizes UPS and Federal Express World Ship computerized management systems daily for shipments.
- Works with Bills of Lading (BOL) paperwork in handling job functions.
- Sets up dedicated loads with shipping companies.
- Drives sit-down propane forklift for shipping / receiving of crates and materials
- Loads and offloads crates, pipe, and materials from open and enclosed semitrailers
- Understands shipping terms of prepaid, third party and collect.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, GED, or technical school; at least two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to :
- Utilize power tools and hand tools safely; saw, staple gun, screw gun, drill
- Read a tape measure
- Drive a forklift, certification required
- Count accurately for inventory purposes
- Use a computer
- Follow directions and work independently
