Job Description
Serving as an Architect for Physical Network Engineering and Operations, you will be a technical leader driving our organization forward serving our customer base. Architects are expected to lead technology introduction, technology deployments, develop strategy, drive roadmaps, assist in cross functional projects and communicate effectively with senior leadership. This is a hands-on role with the need to lead and contribute to work.
Responsibilities
The prospective candidate would advance our capacity program defining, contributing to, and leading development of our network models, platforms, architecture, tooling and reporting. Our architect will need to understand backbone, Internet, fabric, transport, and other related networking areas.
The candidate needs to have a very deep understanding of networking protocols, functional capabilities, how to assess complex customer needs and adapt our capabilities to meet those requirements. An architect serves at an elite level with refined technical and organizational prowess.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Internet architecture or service provider technologies with 15 years of direct experience preferred
- Strong network and systems development with at least 10 years with direct experience in networking, compute systems.
- Experience in networking design, network capacity analysis, software development and system architecture.
- The candidate should also have a strong development background with the ability to review code, generate code, lead software design, and product management.
- Proven technical leader driving network architecture, design, system deployments, tools development and operational needs and practices
- Expert in networking including protocol design, implementations, deployments including upper stack applications requirements
- Protocols and networking functions include and are not limited to: MPLS (TE/VPN), RSVP-TE, BGP, BGP/VPNs, IGPs, Routing Policy, Traffic Engineering, Quality of Service, network controllers, networking policy
- Advanced knowledge of Internet routing and routing policy with advanced knowledge of Interdomain routing, transit, peering, route propagation, routing security, threat detection/mitigation, etc.
- Proven track record of operational contributions to the community including standards bodies, operational forums/groups, specifications, online materials, etc.
- Software platform and tools development and leadership
- Capacity analysis reporting to leadership and setting direction of needed posture, upgrade patterns, design changes, implementation changes or related recommendations
- Coaching of junior staff acting as mentor
- Participation in cross functional programs and projects with other senior technical staff and leaders
- Ability to go deep and dig into highly complex issues, leading analysis and recommendations of path forward
- Documentation and presentation of plans, recommendations and needed actions
Education:
A Bachelors' degree is preferred. An advanced degree is a plus.

California Pay Range: from $166,700 to $363,800 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Colorado Pay Range: from $167,600 to $327,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
New York City Pay Range: from $171,700 to $345,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Washington Pay Range: from $163,500 to $345,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
