Overview
The Orange County Convention Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Setup Supervisor in the Environmental Services Department. This is a highly responsible supervisory position that involves the operation and supervision of employees that perform set up, environmental services and janitorial duties for the Orange County Convention Center. Assists the section supervisor in communicating and preparing daily information and performs the day-to-day activities of the set-up section to allow the staff to execute the general functions of the section.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the section supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved.
Representative Duties
Duties may vary based on the area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Supervises Environmental Services cleaning crews as assigned.
- Plans and prepares schedules for full-time and on-call staff to ensure proper staffing levels for daily workloads.
- Assist in training of full-time and on-call staff.
- Responsible for receiving, maintaining, coordinating storage and movement of fixed and consumable event set-up inventory (chairs, tables, performance staging, risers, linens, water cups, etc.) or environmental services equipment inventory (fleet of 40 plus pieces of carpet cleaning equipment, exhibit hall scrubbers, trailer mounted and portable pressure washers.).
- Responsible for scheduling cleaning of event set-up fixed assets (chairs, tables, linens, etc.).
- Assists with physical counts of fixed and consumable equipment (annual, monthly, etc.).
- Monitors consumable inventory and reorder as necessary to meet event needs.
- Develops and maintains strong business relationships with event set-up service and supply vendors (bottled water, linen cleaner, etc.).
- Responsible for managing linen inventory based on event needs.
- Responsible for managing event set-up or environmental services storage rooms/areas.
- Prepares and maintains section payroll and attendance records.
- Prepares for approval and administers employee performance evaluations.
- Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Environmental Services
- Directs and participates in preparation and clean-up of event activity.
- Plans and prepares for all exterior pressure cleaning of the whole Campus.
- Schedules cleaning exhibit hall scrubbing and meeting room carpet cleaning.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience as a janitorial services worker to include one (1) year of experience as a lead in a convention facility or arena; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Preferences
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
Environmental Services
Experience in the hospitality industry, such as hotels, hospitals, schools, conventions, or themed attraction parks.
Experience in cleaning commercial buildings.
