ORAU has a job opportunity for a Scientist in support of the overall functions of the Vaccine Production Program in Bethesda, MD. The position is contingent on award of an upcoming contract with NIAID Professional, Scientific and Technical Support Services. Salary for position will be determined based on education and experience. Relocation support is not available for this position.

Responsibilities
• Conduct and participate in projects that are complex and scientifically demanding within a specific area/field.
• Initiate, implement, plan, direct, and execute scientific research and development.
• Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results. Demonstrate scientific rigor in assessing own data and that of others.
• Responsible for meeting project goals within time and budget constraints.
• Independently plan, design, and execute projects within a specific scientific field utilizing good scientific judgment.
• Typically conducts more than one project at a time.
• Develop research findings and make recommendations.
• Effectively present results at VPP and VRC meetings.
• Utilize forward-looking perspective to contribute to “go/no go” decisions.
• Make recommendations on outside technologies for company to pursue.
• Plan, design, and execute projects within a specific scientific field through critical participation in functional unit or project team.
• Independent scientific contributor, on-site bench scientist, support testing and carries out investigation and method development, cross reviews and collaborates within mass spec team and cross functional teams: VPP (primary) and VRC (secondary) etc.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree with at least 15 years of relevant experience, Masters degree with at least 10 years experience, or PhD with at least 5 years experience. Degree must be in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
• Must have in depth knowledge of drug development.
• Ability to explain complex scientific concepts in project meetings.
