Orbus Exhibit & Display Group is looking for a Sales Tax Coordinator . Orbus is one of the largest tradeshow exhibit supply and manufacturing companies in the US and headquartered in Woodridge, IL.
The Orbus Sales Tax Coordinator is responsible for the management of the sales & use tax function in all applicable states and local jurisdictions, for Orbus LLC. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to all jurisdictional Sale & Use taxes/ Business Taxes, as well as research on opening and or renewing business licenses in new locations, as applicable and as advised by our tax consultants. This position requires a high level of reliability due to monthly, quarterly, yearly filing deadlines.
Job Function & Responsibility:
- Manage certificates of tax exemption in the Sales and Use tax system
- Assure tax exemption certificates are valid
- Assure tax exemption certificates have the proper expiration date
- Assure we have a tax exemption certificate for all nexus states we ship into
- Main contact person for the Sales and Use tax system
- Main contact person for nexus states sales and use tax questions
- Responds to related internal questions concerning sales and use tax
- Research Sales & Use Tax issues, analyze data for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain sales & use tax accounts with jurisdictions, as well as business licenses in the registered states
- Respond to, resolve, and track notices from taxing jurisdictions in a timely manner, coordinating w/ BKD as needed.
- Assist in Preparation & Filing sales and use tax returns for Orbus for the various states, either manually or online.
- Process Sales and Use tax adjustments entered into the ERP
- Coordinate communication, updates with BKD
- Assist w/ any Sales & Use Tax audits as applicable
- Assist in Developing best practices for documentation and internal communication of sales tax related matters
- Reconcile the sales & use tax GL accounts monthly
- Attend various meetings related to sales tax set up & understand the functionality of the Business Central and Avalara Cert Capture software regarding sales tax
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
- Professional knowledge in sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools
- At least one year in a professional services or tax organization
- Exceptional communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with solid Excel skills
