We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Food Plant Sanitation Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing effective sanitation practices and procedures in our food processing facility. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and food safety throughout the plant, in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The Food Plant Sanitation Manager will lead a team of sanitation personnel and work closely with production, quality assurance, and maintenance departments to maintain a hygienic and safe working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sanitation policies, procedures, and programs to meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Establish and maintain a master sanitation schedule to ensure thorough cleaning and sanitation of all areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Train and supervise sanitation personnel, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and usage of cleaning chemicals and sanitation supplies.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with food safety regulations.
- Identify and address potential sanitation issues or non-compliance risks, taking appropriate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance department to implement and maintain effective sanitation verification programs, including environmental monitoring and testing.
- Basic understand of microorganisms in food manufacturing, identifying niche areas on equipment or in facilities to prevent microbial growth.
- Allergen management and cleaning protocols to prevent allergen cross contact.
- Liaise with production and maintenance departments to coordinate sanitation activities and minimize disruptions to production schedules.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new sanitation technologies, and regulatory changes, and proactively incorporate best practices into the sanitation program.
- Manage and maintain sanitation records, including cleaning schedules, inspection reports, training documentation, and corrective action logs.
- Conduct internal and external audits, responding to audit findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and effectiveness of sanitation chemicals and equipment.
- Monitor and manage the sanitation budget, including procurement of supplies and equipment within established cost parameters.
- Promote a culture of safety, cleanliness, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises a total of 32 employees that include 2 supervisors and 4 subordinate leads within the Sanitation department.
Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience in food plant sanitation management, preferably in a food processing facility.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP) and industry standards (e.g., SQF, BRC).
- Strong understanding of sanitation principles, cleaning techniques, and sanitation equipment.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train, motivate, and supervise a diverse team.
- Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify sanitation issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across departments.
- Proficiency in using computer software for recordkeeping, data analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities and production schedules.
Job Benefits:
Salary Disclosure
The typical salary pay range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 per year. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
