The mission of the Knight Clinical Research Management organization is to support the conduct of translational clinical research aimed at improving the lives of people and families with cancer by applying innovative strategies for cancer prevention, screening diagnosis and treatment. The support is provided through proactive, high quality and efficient study management in compliance with federal regulations and local policies and procedures. This fast-paced and highly intense research environment require management of complex clinical research studies involving a very vulnerable and sick population.
Function/Duties of Position
Summary:
The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Oncology Data Manager Team Lead (Research Project Manager), oversees and manages the day-to-day data collection, entry and general management of oncology study data for clinical trials conducted at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. The Oncology Data Manager Team Lead is the first point of contact for the study team members regarding data aspects of oncology clinical research, to resolve issues and remove obstacles for study team members in terms of data management. The Oncology Data Manager Team Lead sets priorities for workload, and identifies opportunities for process improvement and standardization. The Oncology Data Manager Team Lead will also manage coverage issues related to sick calls, vacation time, and may fill in to assist with responsibilities following a position vacancy. The Oncology Data Manager Team Lead will serve as the primary on-boarding coach for data managers. The Oncology Data Manager Team Lead does not maintain direct reporting responsibility for team members, but may provide supervision to staff.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, this individual maintains direct data management duties. Primary duties include ensuring accurate and complete oncology research data is collected from oncology clinical trial study subjects and entered into the appropriate Case Report Forms. This role will also assist with the coordination of oncology clinical trial monitoring visits, data query resolution, and quality control of collected research data.
The successful Data Manager Team Lead will:
- have and maintain a working knowledge of oncology data, a vast variety of differing electronic database systems, and a working collaboration with our internal and external partnerships;
- exercise sound judgment in taking independent action and seek to advise as appropriate;
- provide recommendations and process/tools development to assist leadership in the implementation of research program goals;
- be highly adaptable and committed to overall data integrity with the ablity to communicate and advocate for data quality.
Required Qualifications
Education and experience:
- Master's in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience ORequivalent combination of training and experience.
- Some clinical research knowledge with at least 3 years of research experience
- Prior experience with data management

- Ability to clearly organize and/or adapt to multiple priorities and tight deadlines at one time
- Strong innovation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
- Proficiency with computers running Windows and PC applications
- High level of of organization and attention to detail
- Excellent troubleshooting, and prioritizing
- Excellent customer service skills
- Energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an office environment
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Working knowledge of EPIC
- CCRP or ACRP Certified
