Position Overview: 

The Marketing Department at Oregon Shakespeare Festival is responsible for driving awareness, interest, ticket sales, and attendance through and for a variety of programs, people, and initiatives on and off stage. In addition to driving audience retention efforts, we endeavor to welcome and grow new audiences with dynamic and inclusive marketing campaigns. As the Marketing and Sales Manager, you’ll play an integral role in the ideation and execution of marketing plans for revenue generating programs. This includes leveraging a variety of media channels, audience data, and messaging to ensure targeted and relevant communications that drive attendance and ticket sales for a range of audiences including highly engaged patrons and casual ticket buyers.  

The Marketing Department strives to be a collaborative, flexible, and dynamic team that responds to a multitude of internal and external needs. We are the voice of OSF which requires a high attention to detail and cross-functional collaboration across the organization. Our ideal team members are strong project managers and equal parts creative and analytical thinkers who want to understand and connect with a diverse range of audiences to fully realize the festival’s position as an iconic theatre destination.   

Pay Range:  $65,000 - $70,000 

 

Organizational Background  

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is a Tony Award-winning, not-for-profit professional theatre founded in 1935, and is among the oldest and largest professional regional repertory theatre companies in the United States. In 2019, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival reached a total attendance of approximately 360,000, with each patron seeing an average of three shows. Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance numbers and annual budget size remain in flux. Eighty percent of audience members travel more than 125 miles to attend the Festival. OSF draws audiences from every U.S. state and from 37 countries worldwide through its growing digital and immersive offerings online. The Festival’s estimated annual economic impact is over $120 million in the State of Oregon.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:  

- In partnership with the Director of Marketing and Sales, ideate and implement long and short-term marketing plans to retain, reactivate, and grow audiences   

- Collaborate with advertising vendors and internal content marketing team to ensure campaign targeting and messaging advances ticket sales goals   

- Manage email marketing segmentation, timing, messaging priorities, and reporting in consultation with Director of Marketing and Sales and content team   

- Develop and execute group sales retention and acquisition strategies, including collateral development, grassroots outreach, and promotions for educational institutions, clubs, and other organizations  

- Manage print marketing collateral distribution on campus and across the region  

- Use a variety of software and tools including Tessitura, ActiveCampaign, Google Analytics, SurveyMonkey, and more to support data driven decision making   

- Create and manage list segmentations for direct mail, display, and social channels    

- Generate, edit, and regularly distribute ticket sales and other audience data reports, keeping key stakeholders appraised on audience trends   

- Manage and fulfill requests for audience research needs including data mining, analysis, and surveying  

- Coordinate email marketing automation journeys and efforts that upsell other Festival experiences and events  

- Support Director of Marketing and Sales on the development and adherence of departmental budgets   

- Advance and manage sales lead generation strategies and audience data collection efforts  

- Identify local and regional brand visibility opportunities and tourism partnerships  

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:  

- Develop deep knowledge of OSF’s productions, artists, and programs   

- Collaborate with a variety of businesses and organizations in Southern Oregon   

- Attend and assist with evening and weekend events as needed  

- Embody OSF’s stated Purpose and Values  

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Sales 

 

Supervision Received:  

Supervised by Director of Marketing and Sales 

 

Requirements 

Qualifications & Skills:  

- At least 3 years of professional experience working in marketing or sales  

- Exceptional analytical and technical skills are a must  

- Holistic understanding of digital and traditional media channels  

- Prior experience working with creative and design teams is a plus  

- Familiarity with Tessitura or other CRM software is highly desirable  

- Interest and/or experience working in the nonprofit arts sector is helpful, but not required 

 

Physical Ability: Ability to sit at a computer terminal for long periods of time.
