55% Faculty Affairs project management
The FAA will serve as project manager and will coordinate activities supporting a wide array of projects in OFA/Office of the Provost. Most projects are nonrecurring.
Ongoing projects and initiatives include but are not restricted to: Pre-doctoral scholars program; briefings for the OSU Board of Trustees; Public Voices Fellowship Program; Provost Fellows program.
The FAA will utilize national and internal data to better understand areas of strength within OSU relative to peer and aspirational institutions. This position will work in collaboration with OSU partners, including but not limited to: Academic Analytics, Cooperative Open Reporting Environment (CORE), Institutional Analytics and Reporting (IAR), Human Resources, Academic Colleges, Research Office, and Student Affairs.
Working with IAR, HR, colleges and tenure units, the FAA will compile longitudinal information and profiles on faculty trends, including demographics and compensation, productivity, and promotion/time in rank. In addition, the FAA will explore the information and metrics reported by our peer institutions as comparators for our profile.
The FAA will create visual metrics and presentations to serve the needs of the Provost’s Office, including but not limited to Board of Trustees meetings, OSU Foundation meetings, strategic planning efforts, public-facing webpages, and departmental newsletters. Develop appropriate metrics and measures to capture the scope of faculty contributions to student success.
Current and planned projects include: strategic plan implementation tracking and metrics; faculty profile; faculty retention and hiring data collection; Academic Analytics faculty roster; Academic Analytics credentialing/access.
Tracking of Faculty Affairs data includes but is not restricted to:
- Tenure-track extensions
- Covid Promotion and Tenure accommodations
- Fixed-term faculty non-renewals
- Waivers
- Hiring initiatives
- Award nominations
- Endowed faculty appointments
Duties related to Academic Analytics include:
- Maintaining OSU’s credentialing process
- Coordinating and supporting the Academic Analytics Advisory Committee
- Acting as the point of contact for OSU users
- Serving as OSU’s liaison between Academic Analytics staff and OSU leadership
- Utilizing and creating reports to identify awards, areas of collaboration, and make peer comparisons
20% Enhance faculty development at all career stages
In partnership with the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development, the FAA will create and implement programs that provide faculty and their leaders with roadmaps for achieving career success. Ongoing duties related to faculty development include but are not restricted to:
- Coordinating and scheduling the Academic Leadership series, Academic Faculty series, and Professional Faculty series
- Coordinating and supporting annual events, including the Academic Leadership Summit and New Faculty Orientations
15% – Assist with university strategic planning development and implementation
The FAA will support the VPFA, strategic plan steering committee, and strategic plan implementation committee as they undertake development and implementation of the University’s strategic plan.
10% Represent OFA or the Office of the Provost on university committees and search committees
Current examples of committees include but are not restricted to: SP4.0 Implementation Steering Committee; Manager Competency Workgroup; LinkedIn Learning Workgroup; Talent Management Senior Advisory Committee; Breaking Barriers Award Committee; NWCCU Accreditation Core Project Team; NWCCU Accreditation Student Achievement Subgroup; Academic Analytics Advisory Committee; Policy Advisory Group.
