Oregon State University-Cascades invites applications for a full-time 9-month Instructor position in Bend, Oregon. The incumbent performs teaching and service in the area of Psychology. This position has an opportunity to cover essential areas of our Psychology program. This position also has an opportunity to help develop an emerging nursing program.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, OR, is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,100 students in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015 and opened its new campus in 2016. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 to 5,000 students by 2025. OSU-Cascades is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.
Position Duties
80% – Student Related Activities:
Student related activities include teaching courses in support of the Psychology program at OSU-Cascades. Develop and teach courses in the OSU-Cascades curriculum. Other duties that fall under Student Related Activities can include program lead, mentoring, internship/experiential education oversight, and program review. Percentage of Commitment (Workload units) among these activities is evaluated and adjusted as needed.
10% – Maintaining Currency:
Engaging in scholarly and/or professional development activities that will support teaching, maintain professional engagement and mastery and provide recognition for both the faculty member and OSU-Cascades.
10% – Service:
Included in service is meaningful participation related to OSU-Cascades, the Central Oregon Community and appropriate professional societies and/or community organizations, and committee work outside of the psychology program.
Minimum/Required Qualifications
PhD in Psychology or related field
Experience teaching at the upper division or higher level in college or university setting
Evidence of effective teaching
Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
