The Market Insights and Data Manager works closely with the Senior Market Insights Manager to complete data analysis and reporting of customs data, news, syndicated and industry related data sources as well as to support the execution of custom, market research projects in support of our Sales, Channel, and Product teams in the Forestry, Lawn and Garden business.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Lead creation of yearly market share / market size for saw chain and / or chain saws using varied data inputs
- Support ongoing monitoring of key competitors
- Support analysis and distribution of secondary research and industry reports, producing summary reports that identify and interpret trends, providing insights for the business
- Oversee the reporting necessary with active membership in industry associations

Support the execution of planned and ad hoc custom market research, tasks for which may include:
- Recommending research to business partners
- Support with creating Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and soliciting bids from external market research suppliers
- Managing project budgets and tracking spending within annual market research budget plans
- Management of external research suppliers
- Reviewing data and / or reports provided by vendors for quality, accuracy, completeness
- Generating additional insights from vendor provided reports
- Support reporting of market research data, charting, developing reports in PowerPoint, with a special emphasis on analysis and insights
- Assist with executing internal market research:
- Developing research instruments
- Survey programming and engaging in some data collection, such as, depth interviews, or quantitative surveys
- Recruiting market research or field test participants
- Supporting analysis and processing of market research data, including data cleaning, weighting and basic cross tabular analysis using SPSS, Excel, or a crosstab package
- Supporting management of Oregon Tool’s online community for professional OPE users
Education:
- Minimum of a BS / BA degree or comparable experience, preferably in a research or data-oriented field such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, math, statistics
- Completion of a market research, research methods and / or statistics course(s) a plus
- Completion of competitive intelligence training a plus
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Minimum 7 to 10 or more years of experience as market research analyst, market research manager or related
- Experience in research at all phases
- Experience managing / leading qualitative and quantitative custom research projects, including international
- Advanced understanding of market research methods, tools, techniques
- Experience in generating actionable insights from data
- Advanced user of the Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with SPSS or similar statistical analysis software a plus
- Experience with survey programming software (Confirmit, Decipher, SurveyMonkey, etc.) a plus
- Some experience working for market research agencies preferred
