Summary:
The Rome, New York distribution center is currently hiring for the following positions: Transportation Manager.
Distribution Center management will be responsible for leading operations as well as managing cost controls and ensuring that both customer service and internal measurements are held to the highest standard. Orgill offers competitive compensation and a broad range of benefits.
Job Summary:
The Transportation Manager will execute, direct, and coordinate shipments into and out of an organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Hires and trains transportation staff.
· Supervises clerks working with regulatory compliance and recruiting efforts.
· Oversees the daily workflow, schedules, and assignments of transportation employees.
· Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
· Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Oversees the coordination and routing of shipments.
· Directs routing activities and tracks transportation vehicles.
· Ensures that customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved.
· Directs all maintenance, repair, and replacement of shipping equipment or vehicles.
· Implements safety audits and trains staff members on safety issues.
· Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods.
· Maintains knowledge of regulations related to transportation including those related to hazardous shipments, employee safety, and freight classifications.
· In collaboration with other managers, develops and implements policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for transportation operations.
· Ensures compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, environmental policies, and government regulations.
· Develop budgets and define and achieve objectives
· Foster a culture that encourages teamwork
· Reviews and analyzes expenditures and other financial information; uses results to develop and implement plans, policies, and budgets.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or a related field is preferred but not required.
· At least three years of related experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
