What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist position at Oriol Health Care?
Oriol Therapy Services is seeking per diem and weekends only Occupational Therapist to join our team. This position may service our inpatient/outpatient or Home Care clients.
Responsibilities:
- Performs patient assessments and evaluations to determine functional level and establish a therapeutic program.
- Completes all documentation required and in accordance with state and federal regulations and policy
- Develop a plan of care with the plan of care to include goals and discharge plans.
- Document, within time frames, observations, patient’s response to treatment, treatment programs, degree of progress and notable changes in patient condition.
- Communicate and coordinate patient care with other members of the patient’s health care team.
- Provide patient and family teaching related to the patient’s physical therapy program and its maintenance.
- Provide occupational therapy in accordance with physician’s orders and accepted professional practices.
- Assist the patient and/family or to procure needed equipment or supplies.
- Utilize appropriate hand washing, standard precautions, and personal protective equipment.
- Attend staff meetings and patient’s conferences.
- Maintains skills and education by attending continuing education and in-services programs.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
- Licensed in the state(s) of practice
- Ability to frequently life and carry objects and/or push pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to occasionally perform one-person transfers of patients’ weighing up to 125 pounds who are stable and able to assist.
- Ability to occasionally participate transfers of patients’ weighing up to 175 pounds who cannot assist, are unstable, or are unpredictable, ( Note: Patients’ weighing over 180 lbs should be lifted using a mechanical device.)
- Ability to stoop and bend on a regular basis
- Ability to reach and grasp objects at, above or below shoulder level.
- Ability to grasp with hands and fine manipulations with hands
- Ability to sit and /or stand for long periods of time
