Orion Solutions is working with a well-established mid-sized construction contracting firm based in Oakland County.
The company is adding a controller to the team! CPA is required but past controller experience is NOT required - they will consider an audit or tax senior or a manager, directly from a public accounting firm. Extensive training will be provided to help you acclimate to the company's accounting and operations.
As the Controller, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations and providing strategic financial guidance to our organization. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing financial reporting, and implementing robust internal controls. In addition to overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, you will work closely with the executive team to drive financial decision-making, optimize financial performance, and support the company's growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and budgeting.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and analysis, providing insights to aid in strategic decision-making.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring performance against targets.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Auditing: Coordinate with external auditors for year-end financial audits, providing necessary documentation and resolving audit inquiries.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and manage tax-related reporting and filings.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and liquidity to optimize financial resources and support project funding requirements.
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, identifying trends, opportunities, and potential risks to support strategic planning.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance accounting and financial processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Financial Software: Utilize and optimize the usage of accounting software and financial management tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA with a solid public accounting experience foundation
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
