Position Description
As a Buyer, you will assist in purchasing materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization, qualifying vendors, evaluating bids, and negotiating prices and terms for purchased goods and services. You will track purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a current database of vendor information. Responsibilities will include:
- Overall, perform a variety of purchasing and procurement tasks, sourcing, vendor/supplier selection, purchase order processing.
- Monitor and manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, order deliveries, backorders, missed or late deliveries, shortages, and problem resolution.
- Monitor, track, and report status of material, deliveries, purchases, etc.
- Coordinate, collaborate, and communicate with Project Managers, vendors, and suppliers as needed.
- Create Bid Analyses, prepare purchase orders, and negotiate prices to ensure good procurement processes.
- Regularly complete and oversee procurement processes, operational plans, RFQs, RFPs, negotiations, and cost analysis.
- Support aerospace / AS9100 Quality Management System requirements, processes, and procedures.
- Maintain supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
- Perform annual supplier audits.
- 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, vendor/supplier relations, and purchase orders preferably with a manufacturing or construction company.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a multitasking environment and work constructively under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet specific goals and deadlines.
- Ability to develop key supplier relationships.
- Must have sound negotiating skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and written form.
- Must have a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Must be dependable, consistently at work and on time, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
