A little About the Manager of Broadcast & Video Production role:
Manager of Broadcast & Video Production will focus on assisting in the broadcast of Lakeland Magic games on television, streaming online and in-arena, including but not limited to the creation and editing of motion and static graphics. On non-gamedays this role will be responsible for capturing photo and video content and editing and producing videos and graphics to be used in marketing, social media, in-arena, sales and more. They will focus on day-to-day maintenance and operation of the G League video control room and technical event support for all Lakeland Magic games at the RP Funding Center.

What the Manager of Broadcast & Video Production will do:
Video & Graphic Production

  • Assist with the production of the gameday broadcast for in-arena, television and streaming.
  • Use new and existing content to produce and edit new videos to be used for commercials, social media, in-game and more.
  • Lead creation of graphics for social media, in-arena, business presentations, sales collateral and more.
  • Lead the delivery of first-class production entertainment at all home games.
  • Assist with the implementation and execution of DAK elements
  • Crafting Digital Signage or LED based off of provided templates
  • Acquiring video, photos, logos and fonts for Digital Signage and LED creation.
  • Researching and digitizing highlights and other footage prior or during edit sessions.
  • Acquiring footage from external resources and general story/information gathering for each project.
  • Exporting and/or compressing files to send out for internal and external client approval.
  • Capture video and photo content at non-gameday events including but not limited to practice, Season Ticket Member events, community events, basketball camps and more.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Ticket Ops with the logistics of non-game related events, i.e., season ticket holder nights, fan fests, community relations events, grassroots events etc.

Broadcast Production

  • Help train and supervise all part-time gameday positions
  • Work with Orlando Broadcast Technology and Services and Lakeland Magic Leadership on project planning, innovation opportunities, and vendor coordination along with identifying any technical issues, production challenges, and consult on all upcoming events in part-time staffing needs
  • Oversee and perform routine maintenance for all Lakeland Magic owned broadcast and AV systems in the video room
  • Ensure proper operation and upkeep of the video switcher, CGs, router and other broadcast equipment
  • Provide advanced and timely troubleshooting and repair of all broadcast and AV systems owned by the Lakeland Magic and within the RP Funding Center. Make recommendations for utilization of external vendors for equipment repair, as required. Coordinate and facilitate repairs upon approval.

Ability to step in as needed to select Part-Time Broadcast Assistance such as below roles and responsibilities:

  • *Digital Signage & LED Operator
  • Testing of all equipment and software prior to the opening of doors, including but not limited to, Show Control software, Display Studio, Venus 8000, shot clock, and related programs.
  • Following the instructions of the show Director and Producer instantaneously during the show in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with the production team during cue-to-cue rehearsal
  • Manage multiple graphic elements, both sponsor and entertainment related, on cue and as scheduled.
  • Organizing virtual workspace and insure all required elements are in proper order, current and up to production standards as determined by the LED Manager, show Production Schedule and Advertising Rotation.
  • Management and execution of Sponsor Rotation and in-game crowd prompts and other elements as needed.
  • Assist in the technical strike of the Broadcast Technology Equipment, including but not limited to the radio equipment, camera equipment, and scorer’s table

TD/Director
Responsible for the operation of the Tricaster, checking and switching between video sources and taking responsibility for the on-air product, including camera shots, replays, pre-produced video elements, and graphics.

  • Testing of all equipment and event triggers, including, but not limited to, the Tricaster, video router, audio monitoring, replay wipes and graphic elements.
  • Following the instructions of the show event producer instantaneously during the show in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with the production team during cue-to-cue rehearsal
  • Manage multiple MEs, chroma key elements, server playbacks, replay wipes, key/fill elements, still stores.
  • Work with the LED Manager to insure proper coordination between any in game elements as needed.
  • Work with the event producer to insure all elements playback properly prior to the start of the event.
  • Work with the EIC to ensure all communications are tested properly.
  • Work with the Shader to ensure all the camera operators are in the proper position with the equipment tested thoroughly.
  • Guide the Camera Operators on shot selection and framing. Guide the replay operators on angle and style of individual replays and packages.
  • Work with the EIC and Replay to ensure proper recording of the event.
  • Participate and lead cue-to-cue rehearsal through all elements as scripted by the event producer.
  • Makes decisions with little or no choice as to the methods and procedures used in achieving results.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What the Manager of Broadcast & Video Production needs to have:

  • Bachelor degree or professional equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years broadcast experience required
  • Basketball/NBA Rules and regulation in-depth knowledge required
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Encore or DVD Studio Pro, Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
  • Considered a plus: working knowledge with Adobe Illustrator, DSLR / XDCAM cameras, Cinema 4D, Maya, 3DS Max, Newtek 3play, Ross Carbonite, Daktronics Venus 8000, Daktronics Display Studio and Show Control.
  • Audio and/or Video production, journalism, communications or related major or production background preferred.
  • Ability to work every Lakeland Magic home game, which includes nights and weekends is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other related computer skills required.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Strong creative skills, organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative
