What are the responsibilities and job description for the Exhibit Technician position at Orlando Science Center?
Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of permanent and traveling exhibits and related exhibit support equipment at Orlando Science Center. This position requires computer, electronic, and mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Essential Functions
· Proactively identifies exhibit weak points and makes improvements to prevent exhibit downtime.
· Analyzes root cause of any consistent failures and implements a solution to prevent further issues.
· Troubleshoots and diagnoses a range of technologies, including but not limited to PC’s, microcontrollers, input devices, A/V devices, projectors, solid state players, mechanical systems, relays and software diagnostics.
· Follows established safety protocol when using tools, such as: soldering iron, write crimpers, multimeter, and other various hand tools.
· Makes recommendations of technology as it relates to the creation of new exhibits for OSC.
· Assists Exhibit Maintenance Technician with exhibit hall start-up, shut-down and scheduled monitoring of issues.
· Identifies any exhibit safety issues and immediately reports to the Manager or Director of Exhibits.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience: Minimum of3 years in related field of PC, A/V or electronic setup and repair.

Expected Hours of Work
· This position primarily works 5 days a week, 32 – 40 hrs. Hours are subject to change to suit the needs of the organization. Nights and weekends as required.
