Job Summary :
The Inventory Planner is responsible for reviewing the material requirements, creating orders to replenish stock, and maintaining target inventory levels for OINA’s production sites.
This role works closely with production, scheduling, logistics and raw material suppliers to ensure the demand and supply needs of the plant are maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain target inventory levels and determine purchasing needs based on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual requirements
- Completing and maintaining purchase orders for raw goods, materials, and supplies
- Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and resolve discrepancies
- Coordinating returns for credit of damaged or out of spec materials
- Stay current with industry trends and establish long-term purchasing arrangements with suppliers when it is beneficial to the company
- Work directly with suppliers to gather information for negotiating price
- Compare supplier offers for shipping rates and material prices, and maintain supplier contract records
- Monitors designated item inventory for adherence to approved levels and disposes of surplus material or other excess material by transfer, usage or sale.
- Work on project teams to onboard new products and setting up materials
- Maintain ERP system data integrity by adhering to requirements related to master data, supply chain settings, contract price, delivery dates or other information required to maintain system data integrity
- Develop rapport and maintain strong working relationships with company supply base
- Communicate OINA’s specifications, quality requirements and delivery expectations
- Monitor supplier quality and delivery and communicate supplier performance. Work with suppliers on quality improvement and delivery issues.
- Report to management on supplier capacity, production or cost issues and provide problem resolution and project status updates.
- Evaluate supplier proposals for change and make recommendations regarding the implementation.
- Adhere to the site’s Supplier Approval Program when purchasing ingredients and materials
- Provide support to R&D and Quality Assurance in procuring the necessary documentation for OINA’s Supplier Approval Records
- Submit the necessary documentation to Quality Assurance prior to purchasing from a potential new supplier
- Comply with all safety guidelines and regulatory standards, setting an example in maintaining high ethical standards and practices
- Comply with all company purchasing policies and procedures
- Comply with all laws and regulations for procured product and services of the company
- Demonstrate exceptional adaptability, managing diverse tasks and responding proactively to evolving business needs
- Recommend new processes or systems for improvement, implementation of new ideas and strategies.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Education and Experience :
At a minimum, an Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of Procurement experience required or work experience in Supply Chain and preferably in a Consumer Product Goods environment.
