- Able to type ten key calculator with ease
- Computer skills required
- To be able to decipher information and use good judgment in transmitting information for effective billing
- The ability to plan and carry through a complete cycle of activities
- The ability to organize work and time for most effectiveness
- Be able to talk to patients or their representatives regarding basic inquiries on accounts
- To be able to work harmoniously with a variety of people

Job Summary
The Patient Accounting Clerk performs various clerical tasks; under general supervision utilizing knowledge of office systems, procedures, hospital regulations and interdepartmental functions.
Duties
- Bills claims to Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial insurance
- Research’s denied accounts and submits information or corrections needed to obtain payment
- Answers basic questions by patients or their representatives in regard to the billing of their account
- Performs other duties as assigned
