Description
Summary
Maintains electronic records of materials in inventory and on order. Monitors, reorders, points and initiates action to replenish stock. Reconciles discrepancies in inventories and notifies supervisor of irregularities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors and maintains current inventory levels of Durable Medical Equipment (DME), injections, medical supplies and other items; processes purchasing orders as required; tracks orders and investigates problems at all office locations.
- Manage DME database and or spreadsheets ensuring accuracy of inventory levels at all locations and pricing of items
- Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory, and reconciles actual stock count to computer-generated reports.
- Receives, unpacks, and delivers goods; re-stocks items as necessary; labels shelves.
- Processes invoices for payment.
- Processes and documents returns as required following established procedures.
- Work with vendors to resolve issues with inventory
- Work to improve upon current systems to optimize inventory control process
- Routinely audits inventory levels and reports discrepancies
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Previous DME or medical supplies experience a plus

- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Ability to reconcile stock counts to report data.
- Database management skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods.
- Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills.
- Knowledge of university invoicing procedures.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Position requires: a) Monitoring and maintaining current inventory levels, including reconciling stock counts to computer reports; b) Initiates action to replenish stock by processing purchase orders and other related paperwork; c) Receiving, unpacking, and delivering items to shelves or requesting departments; d) Inspects shipments for accuracy and completeness, and resolves inconsistencies; and e) Performs routine clerical duties in support of unit.
Conditions of Employment
- Possession of a valid Connecticut driver's license is a requirement for this job.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
