What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Tech position at OrthoNebraska?
The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires all healthcare workers, as well as individuals who interact with healthcare workers in a work setting, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. At this time, fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. As a condition of employment, newly hired team members will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or apply for a medical or religious exemption.
Education:
- High School Education or Equivalent. Sterile Processing Certification required
Experience:
- Some knowledge of instrumentation or surgical experience helpful
What you would do in this role:
- Selects proper cleaning and disinfection methods for instrumentation based on the composition of the instrumentation.
- Sorts and assembles instruments accurately and completely according to processing recipe sheets.
- Keeps accurate records of sterilization processes to comply with deferral and other external regulations by following departmental policies and procedures.
- Carefully and properly handles sterilized items to ensure sterility is maintained.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for successful completion of assignment and tasks.
Here’s what makes for an ideal candidate:
- High School Education or Equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire
- Some knowledge of instrumentation or surgical experience preferred.
- Must have the ability to interact with vendors and other team members in a collaborative manner.
Physical Requirements:
- This position is classified as Light Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (66% of the time) to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work
