Position Summary
Responsible for managing Surgery Schedulers and Test Schedulers. Oversees the day-to-day scheduling for inpatient and outpatient surgeries, medical procedures, tests and studies.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities
- Manage the scheduling department. Monitor scheduling needs, assign tasks as appropriate, and act as a resource for team members and/or providers
- Display and promote a positive public relations approach to team members, patients, providers and the public.
- Communicates with physicians, and other team members when scheduling patient surgeries.
- Handles difficult scheduling situations and encounters with patients.
- Respond immediately to urgent needs within the department.
- Responsible for hiring and training of Surgery Scheduler and Test Scheduler candidates.
- Responsible for coordinating new hire orientation and training processes.
- Manage team member schedules. Be proactive by drafting the schedules several months in advance.
- Maintaining appropriate levels of staffing for scheduling department.
- Coordinate staffing in the event a team member will be absent or late for work.
- Provide routine annual performance evaluations.
- Organize and lead department meetings.
- Be a resource to all outside scheduling facilities. Participate in meetings to ensure compliance with all metrics for excellence.
- Manage provider location assignment and coordinate to ensure full coverage of locations
- Serves as a subject matter expert for the department.
- Maintain flexible work schedule to meet patient and administrative needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Assists physician in coding of procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with medical terminology required
- Surgical terminology proficiency or OR/ASC experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients, team members, direct reports, providers and management group.
- Ability to demonstrate effective leadership qualities that will bring the best out of employees in the department.

Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in Registration, Call Center, Customer Service or a related field required.
- Experience in medical office setting preferred.
- 2 years of management experience preferred.
Salary : $42,800 - $54,200
