Description
The Cancer Tumor Registrar is responsible for collecting information, analyzing and completing abstracts related to patients diagnosed with or treated for cancer at OSF HealthCare. Conducts retrospective and applicable concurrent medical record reviews. Maintains cancer tumor registry databases, ensuring all appropriate data is entered in a timely manner. Maintains understanding of both registry requirements and clinical workflows to ensure accuracy and completeness of information. Identifies opportunities for both process and quality improvements and serves as a subject matter expert in organizational quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, computer science or other healthcare-related field
Certified Tumor Registrar certification required within 2 years of employment
3 years healthcare experience
Experience with electronic medical record systems
Ability to interpret clinical data and understand clinical procedures and terminology
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of Epic
Working knowledge of ACS Commission on Cancer or state cancer tumor registries
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Awareness of the principles and fundamentals related to Performance Improvement
