This position is for Hematology Lab Programs
Rotating schedule: Week One 3 weekdays 3:30pm-8:00pm (13.5 hours) Week Two 2 weekdays 3:30pm-8:00pm (9 hours); no weekend rotation
Starting pay for this position is $17.00/hour
POSITION SUMMARY: The Laboratory Programs Intern/Extern position provides an opportunity for students enrolled in an OSF Laboratory Clinical Laboratory Science or Histotechnology program to advance their knowledge and skills to effectively operate in a laboratory environment. Performs various laboratory procedures, which may include any of the following duties: phlebotomy, labeling, receipt, assessing quality of specimens, and performing manual and automated test analysis, blood delivery, and other limited testing. Maintains a professional relationship with patients, Mission Partners, and providers.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Medical Laboratory Science Program Intern/Extern currently enrolled in an OSF Laboratory Medical Laboratory Science program Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and includes: 16 credits of chemistry, 16 credits of biology, and 3 credits of math A total of 90 semester hours of college course work minimum Analytical skills necessary for phlebotomy requirements, specimen preparation, and testing OR Histotechnology Program Intern/Extern currently enrolled in an OSF Laboratory Histotechnology program Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 including no less than 8 credits of chemistry, 8 credits of biology, 3 credits of Algebra, and 3 credits of English Composition Analytical skills necessary for phlebotomy requirements, specimen preparation, and testing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 3 months previous experience as a phlebotomist
