IoT Domain Architect
The IoT Domain Architect is a professional services engineering role which will engage with customers to understand their technical needs, assess application and service portfolios, design reliable and cost-effective architecture revolving around Connected Products and IoT. You will champion the solution with a structured approach, partnering with customers, sales and other teams within OST. You will be responsible for gaining alignment between others within your problem space, such as:
  • With fellow OST and customer technologists regarding building applications out of services, application security models, role-based access control or messaging patterns
  • With an IT Professional about application monitoring and continuous deployment
  • With fellow developers about design and the code
  • With Program/Product Managers to ensure that customer requirements are thoroughly understood and reflected in future releases.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and with a proven track record in software/technology sales or consulting. You should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges as it pertains to their specific technology space. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable at the intersection of technology and business.
The IoT Domain Architect is a very technical role - you are broadly competent across several areas of technology (such as infrastructure, security, DevOps, databases, application development, serverless technologies or analytics) and deep in at least 1-2 of those areas specific to the technology space.
On the business side, the ability to connect the impact of a technical decision or solution with measurable business value is critical to a domain architect. The IoT Domain Architect will spend most of their day designing and developing quality products, often interacting with several customer stakeholders, including developers, team leads, and product owners.

What you'll accomplish:
  • Build a deep relationship with customers product team and product owners providing expertise and naturally gravitating toward the role of trusted advisor related to the customer solution
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support related to IoT ecosystems and workloads
  • Work with customer product owners gathering requirements to fully understand need and service as a technical liaison between team providing guidance and support regarding project needs and priorities
  • Keep finger on the pulse of technology reviewing best practices and patterns choosing the patterns and practices that will be utilized in respect to the product or domain resulting in a cohesive and maintainable result
  • Educate customers on the value proposition of cloud partners, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud
  • Architect and lead the development of a solution that will meet the needs of the product; ensuring that it exhibits the highest standard of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment
  • Work with customer and product team technologists in the role of mentor and technical direction advisor
  • Capture and share best-practice or knowledge learned within the OST architecture community. Collaborate with other architects and development team in developing complex end-to-end Enterprise solutions on partner cloud data platform
  • Implement solutions ensuring that end deliverables align with design and meet the needs of the requirements
  • Maintain technical skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with market trends and competitive insights; collaborate and share with the technical community
  • Understand long term vision for technologies utilized and available as they apply to customer solutions, looking for continuous improvement opportunities which can help the solution
  • Author or otherwise contribute to OST customer-facing publications such as whitepapers or case studies
What you'll need to bring:
  • 5 years of relevant software design and development experience
  • 2 year of success in complex technical sales and deployment projects, architecture, design, and implementation
  • Deep understanding of cloud native AWS technologies such as AWS Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, etc., and how they interact to form a cohesive ecosystem
  • Functional knowledge of IoT communication patterns including a high-level understanding of device-to-device and mobile-to-device patterns, and deep understanding of device-to-cloud, cloud-to-device, and mobile-to-cloud patterns
  • Proven expertise in designing scalable event driven architectures that are both performant and cost effective
It's preferred that you'll bring:
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent software/services experience
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
  • Passion for innovation and customer service
  • Ability to inspire customers by communicating complex concepts in a simple, business valued context with proven white boarding capabilities
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with product owners, fellow architects, and developers
  • Experience in technology driven presales and account management
  • Ability to solve customer problems through technologies
  • Experience working in a solution integration role including data integration and agile methodologies
  • Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS in complex enterprise environments
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to right level conversations
