Otava is currently seeking a part time Internal IT Support Specialist for our Mo – Fri Shift, to work between 20 - 30 hours per week. The Internal IT Support Specialist (Part – Time) will play a crucial role in providing technical support and assistance to our employees, ensuring their hardware and software needs are met and that they can work efficiently. This position requires a customer-focused, problem-solving, and proactive approach to IT support.
This position is being filled in one of the following locations: Ann Arbor, MI
Role Responsibilities
- End-User Support: Provide comprehensive IT support to employees, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up and configuring workstations, and resolving technical problems promptly and effectively.
- Hardware Maintenance: Manage hardware assets, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals. Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs as needed.
- Software Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and update operating systems and software applications. Ensure software licenses are up to date and in compliance with company policies.
- Network Connectivity: Assist with network connectivity and resolve network-related issues, including VPN access, Wi-Fi connections, and IP phone systems.
- Security: Follow security protocols to protect sensitive data and maintain system security. Educate and train employees on best security practices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory, service requests, and resolutions. Create and update user manuals and knowledge base articles.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT team members to escalate and resolve complex technical issues. Coordinate with external vendors when necessary for equipment repairs and service.
- User Training: Provide training and guidance to employees on IT-related topics, ensuring they can make the best use of available technology.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor system performance, report, and address issues proactively, and recommend improvements to enhance IT efficiency.
Experience
- At least three years of experience in an enterprise technology role.
- Experience with direct end-user support
- Experience with troubleshooting desktop devices, active directory, and Microsoft products.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common business applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of network fundamentals and hardware components.
Education
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience with Desktop Support or End-user Support
