A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OPERATIONS RESEARCH SYSTEMS ANALYST (ORSA)
As an Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA), you are a mathematics master who helps improve our company's decision-making and business practices. Using your strong critical thinking and analytical skills, you collect and examine data to determine the effectiveness of our processes and systems. You gather and analyze data from our current and future programs to identify any potential problems. Attentive to detail, you document all existing processes and analytical results as well as develop advanced methods for improving our data analysis.
With this data, you identify areas for improvement and develop methods for strengthening those areas. You research and document process workflows and data flow, making note of any process or resource constraints. Thinking strategically, you develop predictive analysis methods to estimate a future program's effectiveness. You develop models for potential threats and risks and create mitigation plans to reduce these risks. To help optimize our efficiency, you also develop a framework for prioritizing tools, data, and processes. QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OPERATIONS RESEARCH SYSTEMS ANALYST (ORSA)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in operations research, operations analysis, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
- 5 years of experience in a program office
- Secret clearance or ability to obtain
- Working knowledge of ORSA concepts and techniques such as mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and stochastic process models
- Clearance required within the last 2 years
