Staff Mechanical Engineer

The position will play a crucial role in maintaining product integrity, evaluating opportunities, and integrating new component designs into existing systems, while working to meet agreed upon cost and schedule commitments. Typical responsibilities include structural analysis, design, implementation, and testing of a wide range of elevator components. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of elevator systems, strong mechanical engineering skills, and possess a good working knowledge of manufacturing processes. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate technical concepts to lower level engineers, peers, and others throughout the company. Education BS Degree in mechanical engineering degree with 7 years’ experience MA/MS degree with 5 years’ experience Experience/Skills Demonstrated Elevator system level design experience Strong mechanical engineering background (mechanical and system modeling and design, component modeling and design) Creo / Pro Engineer Mechanical structural analysis with Ansys or other FEA Software Design documentation with Mathcad Hands-on testing experience Strong communications and leadership ability Experience with test and measurement equipment Working knowledge of Manufacturing Processes Elevator systems knowledge Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software Otis is the world leader in reliable, efficient and technologically advanced elevators, escalators and people-moving systems.
