BOH Shift Leader - Portland

POSITION SUMMARY:
As a BOH Shift Leader you will be responsible for supporting all BOH roles as well as assisting the General Manager with BOH operations (training, delegation, conflict resolution, responsibilities) while complying with all applicable sanitation, health, safety and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support all BOH roles; be a knowledgeable expert of each and perform when needed (Dishwasher, Prep Cook, Cook).
- Assist with the training of new and existing BOH employees.
- Manage all BOH employees including delegating responsibilities on shift and ensure all employees are following all proper procedures and protocols pertaining to their roles.
- Ensures BOH facility remains clean at all times.
- Complies with established sanitation standards, safety, personal hygiene and health standards. Utilizes proper food preparation and handling techniques.
- Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to General Manager, assists in coordinating the repair.
- Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved.
- Maintains daily production records and assists with inventory control.
- Maintains a clean and neat appearance; wears uniform provided by OTTO.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Ability to read and comprehend labels and directions
- Ability to work independently with little supervision required.
- Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment.
- Ability to work within timeframe of standard policies and procedures.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment.
- Ability to work well on a team.
- Ability to take direction when needed.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- High School Diploma preferred not required.
- Previous cooking experience preferred not required.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred not required.
- Knife Skills preferred, MUST meet minimum age requirements (at least 18yrs) if the location utilizes automatic slicers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by restaurant environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens ( 110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
- Position requires standing and walking. Length of time of these tasks are most of the shift.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, lifting, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing to occur continuously in the process of communicating with coworkers and supervisors.
- Requires lifting to 5 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
Requires lifting items weighing up to 40-50lbs occasionally.
- Requires bending, stooping, squatting and stretching to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
- Requires working in slippery/wet areas; must wear non-slip close-toed shoes
