What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Coordinator position at Our State Magazine?
Our State magazine is searching for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as Event Coordinator. As a member of the marketing team, the Event Coordinator will successfully plan and implement events to ensure high visibility and continued growth and engagement of the Our State readership. The Event Coordinator will manage Our State’s participation in festivals and special events across the state, in addition to planning and assisting with a variety of custom Our State events to engage current and new readers of the magazine.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and coordinate Our State’s event participation around the state to ensure that Our State has an appropriate presence and is well-represented at events, festivals, and activities across North Carolina
- Manage all logistics of event participation and sponsorships, including booth materials, magazine shipments, signage, etc.
- Design, order, and maintain promotional materials for events
- Assist in the selection and training of brand ambassadors/event liaisons
- Create, plan, organize, staff, and execute promotional events and activities
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams on event sponsorships and Our State participation
- Meet with clients as needed to help pitch, brainstorm, plan, and create events
- Work with the marketing team to create and execute custom Our State events
- Maintain an effective working relationship and open communication with cross-functional teams to build event promotional plans and collaborate on company-wide projects, such as the Made in NC Awards
- Work festivals and special events throughout the year
- Assist with Our State events including the Best of Our State, Meet the Maker: Farm-to-Table Dinner, Made in NC Awards, and others
- May assist with the Our State Travel Club as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or marketing
- Minimum of 3 years in marketing, public relations, and/or community relations or related field
- Must have event planning experience
- Must have a high energy level and feel comfortable representing Our State
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- A self-starter with strong follow-up skills who can work effectively under pressure
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Prefer some understanding of digital/social marketing
- Availability to travel and work some weekends and evenings throughout the year
