Outdoor Sports Center is looking for a Ski Hardgoods Buyer to join our procurement team. This person will be responsible for planning and executing the procurement of skis, boots, bindings, and other ski related gear. Analyzing sales and marketing information, knowledge of industry technology, and anticipating trends, they will coordinate with vendor representatives to create pre-season, fill-in, and special orders.

Position Details:

Reporting to: Head of Retail Operations
Job Location: On-Site – Wilton, CT
The primary responsibility of the Ski Hardgoods Buyer is to anticipate trends and demand while planning and purchasing all inventory in the ski department. Additionally, they will need to communicate their vision to the sales staff and facilitate the successful merchandising and sell through of the ski department.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyze a broad spectrum of available data, to create a pre-season buying plan
- Execute the buying plan; place orders and negotiate terms with vendor representatives
- Communicate with procurement team to create and update purchase orders, and plan receiving
- Work with Marketing team to create floor plans, fixturing, and advertising
- Monitor sell through to execute fill-in orders, promotional sales, and clearance
- Communicate the merchandising plan to sales team through in-store clinics
- Place special orders for customers
Required Skills:
- Deep understanding of skiing and the related products and technologies
- Minimum 5 years ski industry experience
- Proficient with commonly used computer software, email, Excel, and internet applications
- Ability to plan and present clinics to sales associates
- Well organized and a strong communicator
