About the role

With more than 400% growth since 2015, Outdoorsy is the world's leading outdoor travel marketplace.  Since our founding, Outdoorsy has remained committed to the mission of bringing people to the outdoors and helping restore our relationship with nature. 

In 2023, Outdoorsy launched the Outdoorsy Destination Network, a portfolio of Camping and Glamping properties in Texas, Colorado, and California.  The company’s flagship is its high-end Glamping Resort in Stonewall, Texas, adjacent to the popular town of Fredericksburg.   The resort is a one-of-a-kind property that features Safari-inspired luxury lodge tents, a Safari Bar that accommodates up to 100 people, an Event center that will accommodate 150 people, a lake and a historic CampStore on property.  

The company is recruiting an event marketing manager who will be responsible for spearheading the company’s event marketing strategy, including but not limited to:  on-property events, such as corp offsites, weddings, wedding parties,  wine tasting events, music events, such as the Outdoorsy series “music by the lake”, BBQ and food events, Bachelorette parties, reunions, Outdoorsy user group meetups, rallies and more.  

The role includes conceiving of and designing marketing initiatives, leading planning and attendance, securing partners and special guests,  representing Outdoorsy at the events, via implementing guerilla marketing campaigns. This individual should have a successful track record of organizing events, driving attendance in the hospitality industry and proving ROI through event marketing strategies and tactics.

Responsibilities:

Your work at Outdoorsy:

  • Successfully ideate, plan, execute, and manage events generating total revenue of $1.5 million.
  • Spearhead Oudoorsy’s event strategy at Outdoorsy properties as well as special events including but not limited to: identifying key events, internal team events for attendees (elevator pitch, demos, etc.), maintaining pre and post-show communication, and event attendance.
  • Work with the leaders in the company’s marketing team and sales organization to strategize, market and organize customer and sponsored events.
  • Negotiate and secure partnerships, sponsorships, and agreements, resulting i n significant revenue streams for events.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, sponsors, and partners to maximize revenue potential.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to optimize event structures, pricing models, and promotional strategies, leading to increased revenue generation.
  • Innovatively identify and explore new revenue streams within the event landscape, diversifying income sources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align event strategies with overall business goals, ensuring revenue targets were met.
  • Proactively seek out and capitalized on opportunities for upselling and cross-selling to maximize event profitability.
  • Implement effective cost-control measures to enhance overall event profitability and ROI.
  • Develop and present reports analyzing event financial performance and revenue growth.
  • Work with head of marketing and marketing executives to develop event strategy and objectives; spearhead initiatives to meet objectives based on lead generation, customer advocacy, and more.
  • Negotiate and execute agreements for large and small-scale events.
  • Travel will be required.  *Up to 50 percent of your time will be spent traveling to Outdoorsy Hill Country (Stonewall, TX).
  • Drive marketing-influenced pipeline and generate a database of customers to cross-sell to other Outdoorsy and Roamly products and services through onsite activations and support of the marketing and product teams.
  • Analyze, track, and report on event success based on predetermined pipeline, revenue, and marketing metrics using CRM, email marketing, project management, and similar systems.
  • Build relationships with Outdoorsy customers and prospects on a one-to-one basis.
  • Interact with key decision-makers. 
  • Work with in-house designer/s to ensure event display, content, and collateral accurately represents the Outdoorsy brand.
  • Responsible for ordering and tracking event inventory including collateral, giveaways, etc.

What you bring to the table:

  • 5 years of related event design, sales, and/or marketing
  • Proven experience carrying out event marketing activities, including hospitality event planning, attendance, and reporting
  • Experience partnering with an enterprise sales team
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage resources, budgets, and onsite personnel
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • You are creative, innovative, and always think outside the box
  • Highly organized and proficient at managing multiple projects at a time
  • You are metric-driven and can draw insight from complex marketing data
  • Confident and you must possess a dynamic personality
  • Capable of standing comfortably and working in outdoor resorts and in nature. May require being on your feet for up to eight hours a day, working long hours, and traveling frequently

The target salary range for this role is $65,000 - $73,000 bonus DOE

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with potentially applicable laws. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and bonus dependent upon position.
