OVERVIEW | OPERATIONS MANAGER, Golf Operations
Outlyr is looking for a motivated individual with experience in operations to assist the Tournament and event staff with day-to-day operations of preparing the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational and other LPGA Tour Events. The operations coordinator will work closely with tournament staff on the execution of the operations plan in the lead up to the event. This includes the overall build out of the event, interacting and overseeing vendor partner components, budget management, and assisting with obtaining GEO® Certification.
The right candidate will be able to work as part of a team, have a flexible approach, and offer an extremely detailed work product. Strong team dynamics skills are required for this position. Extended travel as well as working weekends, evenings and some holidays may also be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES
- Assist in developing and executing a strategic operational plan, timeline, and site plan for the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational
- Assist in maintaining relationships with host site agronomy team, local / state officials, law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other necessary executional relationships
- Management of compliance to tournament operations budget
- Management of vendor partner agreements, timelines, and execution
- Management of tournament areas including but not limited: tents, structures, transportation, ecology, AV, security, golf carts, rental equipment, radios, storage, and temporary power
- Management of local, state, and national permitting
- Work closely with tournament staff, ecology, and tournament vendor partners to continue commitment made for obtaining GEO® Certification
- Other related duties/projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1-2 years of internship/work experience
- Extensive study in a related field (senior level internship or recent college graduate)
- Polished communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, and solve problems independently
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Internet
- Excellent organizational skills and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
- Interest in sports and event marketing/management as a career
- Ability and flexibility to travel and weekend/holiday work as needed
- Must be available to work full time in the Midland, MI market, with travel to other markets as needed
