Services include counseling, casework, mentoring, community development, services for older adults and after-school and summer programs for children and youth.

Responsibilities:
The College Coach & Retention Specialist will partner with the Program Director in the development, implementation, and ongoing supervision of the College Opportunity Program (COP) which is designed for high school and college age students from the Carol Stream neighborhood with the goal of successfully launching students into college or vocational training and career. Responsibilities include building and maintaining effective relationships with students, parents, colleges & universities, and employment work sites; guiding students and parents through the college application and entry process; ongoing communication and support for students in higher education or vocational training programs; assisting students with career preparation activities (internships, job shadowing, college/ career discovery) and creating monthly reports.
Requirements:
A passion for resourcing and guiding students who may be the first in their family to envision college. Ability to develop effective relationships with high school and college age students. Flexibility to respond to students outside of regular business hours. BA/ BS/ BSW degree; at least 3 years post-college work experience; at least 2 years experience with high school & college students; previous education or guidance counseling experience a plus; sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk, and culturally diverse backgrounds. Strong communication, organizational, and networking skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in MS Word/Excel. Valid IL driver’s license required along with good driving record and reliable vehicle. Ability to travel to visit students. Commitment to OCM’s Statement of Mission & Faith.
Status:
Average of 32 hours/ week. 4 days per week.
Academic Year: Primarily afternoons & evenings including Thurs. from 5:30-9:00pm.
Summer: Primarily daytime hours.
Travel: spring break college tour; 3-4 out of state trips to visit students at college.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position falls between $17.50 and $21 based on education, skills, and experience. Benefits included.
