Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Landscape Services, the General Manager of National Landscape is responsible for leading, planning and managing overall operations of our national landscape operations through the utilization of a service partner network. The General Manager will take an active role in ensuring services are performed, and projects completed in accordance with customer expectations and the contracted scope of work. The position will require coordination amongst shared resources with the commercial snow division and be responsible for the profit and loss of this line of business, budgeting, daily operations and planning, talent development, customer retention and sales support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements strategies that achieve the operational and financial goals and objectives of the national landscape book of business.
- Utilizes and enforces the utilization of our operational system (Aspire), to provide accurate, transparent, and timely data to assist with the preparation and reporting on financial performance and expenses.
- Work closely with the Director of National Sales & the Director of Regional Sales and their respective teams; providing support, guidance, and coaching/training as it relates to commercial landscaping.
- Support the creation and finalization of national landscape bids, as well as being a key decision maker on which national opportunities will be pursued.
- Supports growth initiatives and partners with Sales in new customer acquisition and existing customer account retention.
- Increases the breadth and depth of our existing service partner network to strengthen our operational capabilities in desired/targeted markets.
- Final decision maker regarding the contracting of service partners; from preliminary selection to vetting to contract negotiation/finalization. Ensuring required gross margin targets are achieved to maintain or exceed budgeted EBITDA goals.
- Collaborates with the other landscape general managers and to drive consistency throughout our landscape operations and share best practices.
- Enforces policies and programs and implements needed changes to ensure compliance with company objectives.
- Implement controls and programs to manage service quality, operational performance, and work planning to deliver against customer requirements and stated financial goals.
- Partners with various support teams, including but not limited to National Account Management Team to ensure expected services are delivered in a timely and professional manner to our clients.
- Implements quality control processes to ensure services are rendered in accordance with customer agreed upon schedules and specifications.
- Promotes organization in industry and / or trade associations.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ management experience in commercial landscape maintenance services.
- Strong track record of delivering operational and financial results with full P&L ownership.
- Strong understanding of logistics as it relates to landscape management and facilities maintenance.
- Working knowledge of commercial snow removal and ice management is a plus.
- Must be able and willing to travel 15%.
