Functional Areas of Responsibility

  • Acquisition and disposal of Equipment Division assets
  • Maintaining adequate and transparent internal controls
  • Managing department operating budget
  • Strategic planning

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning for the equipment requirements of the organization by identifying needs and determining best approach to meet those needs with the right quantity and types of equipment and vehicles where best value is achieved, risk is minimized, and an acceptable return on investment (ROI) is obtained. Manage the execution of the procurement, maintenance, and replacement plans in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Lead and direct equipment rental, fleet, and miscellaneous services operations in support of field operations, and other internal and external customers. Provide equipment solutions to the field that address all areas of productivity, safety, and economics.  Increase market penetration of third-party rental business.
  • Maintain contact with jobsites to review status of equipment performance, plan for change in equipment deployment, troubleshoot, and act on project feedback.
  • Work closely with corporate Safety and Risk Management Departments to ensure division compliance and to explore improvement opportunities.
  • Seek out and manage lump sum equipment contracts utilizing company standard project management and control procedures.
  • Ensure division’s compliance with Corporate Accounting Policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Responsible for financial management and reporting of the division, utilizing the monthly Profit and Loss Statement (P&L) and other data that is specific to discrete operations, while demonstrating adherence to sound internal controls.
  • Maintain an overall procurement process and approach, where goods and services are bought as part of a competitive selection process involving pre-qualified vendors. This is to ensure that the company obtains the best value available.  Maintain the transparency of the process with sales and purchases being well documented.
  • Execution of all formal purchase orders on behalf of the Equipment Division.
  • Participate in corporate strategic planning and influence how specific goals will be achieved. Work closely with other departments to gain cost efficiencies, maximize purchasing leverage, increase fleet utilization, and work towards greater synergy.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and municipal laws related to equipment sales, rentals and related services, including all corporate and division policies and procedures dealing with employment, compensation, health, safety, and labor/management relations, etc. Take corrective action where necessary and notify and/or involve corporate employee-owners where required or needed.
  • Develop subordinates to enhance their current and future contribution to the organization while maintaining a work environment that is conducive to teamwork, shared goals, employee-owner development, and employee-owner advancement. Establish, maintain, and communicate clear responsibilities and expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required of this Position

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to perform financial models and analysis for acquisitions, disposals, life cycle cost, fleet balance, and financing.
  • Five to ten years of experience in field operations or equipment inventory and management.
  • Demonstrated experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a leadership role.
