Compensation: 35-60k per year (salary production bonus) depending on performance
ABOUT OVIPOST
Ovipost designs automated, scalable insect farming systems. We are a team of farmers, engineers, biologists, and creative problem-solvers with a passion for insects and the environment.
Our mission is to reduce carbon emissions and protect critical ecosystems while enhancing food security. Our insects consume agricultural byproducts and generate a highly nutritious protein that can be used in a variety of food and feed applications. Ovipost’s current facilities in Florida and Mississippi grow crickets and superworms for use in pet food.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day farm operations, ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Regular reports on farm inventory, production issues, and other problems that arise. Use problem solving skills to propose solutions.
- Set schedules and hold staff accountable for showing up and staying on task
- Strong computer skills are required including use of spreadsheets, ability to learn new programs (e.g. Slack, Notion, shipping software), and communicate effectively through reporting
- Ability to work in hot conditions, safely lift heavy materials (e.g. 50 lb bags of dry feed), and stand 8 hours
- Identify and fix small issues before they become big issues (e.g. find and correct user errors that increase farm and inventory instability)
- Communicate with team members to solve problems and maintain updates on project status and completion
- Follow rules, guidelines, and processes that help the facility run smoothly
- Foster a positive and efficient work environment that yields results

QUALIFICATIONS

- Previous managerial experience is a must
- Experience using spreadsheets and other computer programs, including phone apps
- Must have excellent work ethic and take constructive criticism well
- Excellent communication skills. Daily communication with the team using email, Slack, and in-person communication is a must. Some team members work best with clipboards and whiteboard lists whereas others are remote. You must be fluent in both digital and analog communication channels.
- Prior experience working in an outdoor environment doing physical labor
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand on your feet for 8 hours in a hot outdoor environment
- Comfort performing Google searches when questions arise
- Sharp attention to detail
