Owens Healthcare is currently seeking a full-time Intake Specialist for our Infusion Pharmacy in Redding, CA. This position will be approximately 40 hours a week and will include benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k, etc.)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Intake Specialist:
The Intake Specialist is responsible for processing new patient referrals in a timely and accurate manner.- Ensure that intake information is placed into the computer system and paperwork has been scanned and processed.
- The Intake Specialist completes all insurance verifications.
- The Intake Specialist secures benefits and authorization information prior to the start of the patient’s therapy.
- Inform staff of any patient problems or concerns with ordered services/products.
- Identify and complete accurate prescriptions and physician orders according to services/products dispensed and the patient’s insurance requirements.
- Communicate to the patient with coverage issues and collection of co-pays, deductibles, and share of cost.
- Demonstrate knowledge of reimbursement of infusion services.
- Ensure that appropriate departments or outside agencies have necessary information to assure smooth coordination of care for patients.
- Build close relationships with referral sources.
- The Intake Specialist assists the pharmacy manager with other duties, as needed.
Education, Qualifications & Skills
- 1-2 years prior work experience in a medical setting.
- Understanding of insurance authorization and reimbursement.
- Customer Service experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of HCPC and NDC codes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent phone and computer skills
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and establish priorities
- A positive work attitude
- Pharmacy Technician experience preferred, but not required
