Ownbackup is looking for a passionate, dedicated, and highly motivated Technical Writer to join our elite Product & Strategy Department.
Reporting to the Technical Documentation Team Lead the successful candidate will work with Product Managers, Engineers and Product Markers, to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including but not limited to: User Guides, Integration Guides, API Developer Guides, Knowledge Articles and in platform documentation.

• Obtain a deep understanding of our OwnBackup Secure product and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content for internal and external customers
• Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, Product Marketing and the Technical Writing functions to create, edit and update user content, including product guides, knowledge base articles, integration guides, API developer guides, etc.
• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards
• Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success
• Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
• Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement
• Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
• Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
• Work with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage
• Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration
• Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation,

Your Work Experience

• 3 years of proven technical writing experience
• SaaS experience is preferred
• Experience working with single source structured content preferred
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, ability to consult with subject matter experts from engineering, support, and product management.
• Strong written and verbal communication and experience working with content in multiple mediums.
• Excellent attention to detail
• Self motivated individual willing to jump in and tackle new challenges

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ/San Diego, CA office to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. This is a cross regional role spanning several time zones.
