Position Summary:
Responsible for ensuring the financial accounting functions of the organization and the resulting financial reports for Senior Management and for the Board of Directors are completed and maintained in a timely and accurate manner, while maintaining the system of internal controls from an accounting perspective. Highly involved in conducting and assisting in numerous special projects and acting as a resource for all members of the finance team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise the work of the Associates of the Finance Department
- Coordinates the scheduling of payments and maintenance of records and documentation
- Provides direction and/or approval on posting journal entries, maintaining the cash position tracking logs, maintaining the supporting documentation for interfaced registers and journal entries from the A/P and A/R systems and close supervision, review and approval of the monthly closing process and balance sheet account reconciliation work
- Oversee General Ledger for all accounts and companies as well as account and departmental changes
Financial Statement Process and Budgeting Responsibilities
- Review the monthly and quarterly financial package for partners
- Oversee the month-end closing process
- Complete quarterly forecasting including financial and headcount information
- Review the consolidated financial statements
- Analyze leases opportunities including analysis of rent and various buildout scenarios
- Lead the audit process
- Review the financial statement variance analysis
- Approves expense reports
- Orchestrates annual budget process with the various departments (leads the meetings) and consolidates the information
Assist the CFO on all company needs
- Prepares and maintains annual budget
- Prepares projection of expected future performance
- Performs all the detailed input to the various reports and systems
- Assists with PLC Reporting Data
- Gathers Board Retreat/Partner Retreat Financial Information
Manage cash flow and banking transactions
- Monitors daily cash flow activity
- Maintains a projection of expected future cash inflows and outflows
- Determines when the Line of Credit needs to be drawn upon
- Reviews bank covenant calculations
Client Billing
- Oversees client billing matters
- Assists with new client set up, resolving client and Managing Director questions and resolving client cash flow issues to ensure sufficient funds are available for required disbursements
- Meets with Managing Directors monthly/quarterly to discuss their client fees and client profitability
- Assists with review/approval of fee section of all Advisory Agreement Proposals
Shareholder Matters
- Reviews all Shareholder tax and income distributions
- Reviews and provides reports to Shareholders
- Coordinates Shareholder loans and loan payments with the financial institution
- Deals with new share issuance and share redemptions
- Works with outside accounting firm on the K-1 Process
Participate in a variety of committees and periodically presents at these meetings
Firm Bonus Calculations
- Reviews all bonus calculations
- Works with Assistant Controller and others on firm bonus plans and estimates
Oversees client activity based cost profitability reporting system
- Designs, develops and implements
- Reviews client profitability analysis
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant credentials or Masters in Accounting
- Preferably public accounting experience
- Preferably experience in financial services
- Knowledge of Sub S Corporations
- Experience in dealing with K-1s
- Strong personal computer skills, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Word
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
- Must have demonstrated ability to effectively supervise
- Must understand financial accounting packages, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Must have a professional demeanor with the utmost respect for confidential matters
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Must have ability to multi-task
- Must have ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment
- Must have strong work ethic with a positive attitude
Working Conditions:
- Minimal travel as business needs necessitate
- Long periods of sitting utilizing a computer
- Significant overtime may be required periodically to meet established deadlines
