We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of HES Manager within our Taft Plant located in Hahnville, LA. Essential Job Duties: - Maintain protection of the environment and the health, safety, and security of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority. - Support, facilitate, plan, organize and implement Safety Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, and Emergency Response programs to ensure the safety, health, and security of employees and contractors. - Manages adequacy, reliability and testing of equipment related to the safety and security of the facility. - Work with plant leadership, personnel, and contract groups to correct and improve performance and practices as applicable. - Manages Safety and Security personnel and in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, coordinates the Medical/Industrial Hygiene responsibilities. - Manages safety process systems through leading and participation in planned inspections, job observations, near miss reporting, incident investigation, plant audits, and other programs as required. - Maintain regulatory compliance and continued quality in OxyChem Safety process systems. - Responsible for development and distribution of technical safety and health information, procedures, standards and bulletins, advancements, and/or improvements. - Liaison with Insurance carriers, State and Federal government inspectors, and representatives of professional safety and health organizations. - Provide appropriate HES&S leadership, counsel and coaching on HES&S related issues, define requirements, interpret regulations and procedures, and assist to define acceptable solutions. - Responsible for development, planning and implementation of Safety, Security, and Health Education programs for employees and management. - Participate and/or lead HES&S audits from OxyChem Corporate and regulatory personnel, and represents OxyChem at applicable community, and HES&S organizations and functions. - Responsible for the integration of OxyChem safety process systems and quality guidelines. - Site Administrator for the Respiratory Protection Program. - Manages the development, implementation, and measuring of plant HES&S, contractor safety, fire protection, emergency response and services, procedures, practices, projects, and record keeping complying with all applicable codes, standards, and acceptable practices. - Assist in special program efforts such as the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program, and other regulatory or company programs and processes.
Qualifications:
- Chemical industry training experience strongly preferred. - Bachelor's degree is required - Internal consulting and coaching experience helpful; strong influencing skills. - Teaching/training facilitation experience to include instructional design and course development. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. - Excellent project management skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a bottom-line driven, fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects with ever-changing priorities and deadlines. - A minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in the Chemical industry.
