POSITION SUMMARY We are currently seeking a Planning Supervisor. This position has direct oversight of all Planning Department activities, and for establishment and monitoring of departmental procedures and policies. The Planning Supervisor shall also be tasked with addressing personnel issues, such as assessment of staffing needs, providing timely and effective performance feedback to department employees, etc. Supports LMI’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other policies and procedures in all actions, including our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Direct and supervise planning department. Assign specific customers to planners. Review and approved planning. Print report of part numbers to be plan, and review to ensure they get planned on time for production. Review Open Sale Orders report for new and roll part numbers. Schedule and Lead the Contract Review Meeting. LMI “red hat” position during implementation of the MRP system. Clear understanding of the AS400 function and necessary reporting. Ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ensure all new and roll part numbers get into the contract review spread sheet. Keep the contract review spread sheet updated. Participate with the estimating group for new work and quotes Download and save engineering from customer sites or team center as needed. Review and approved CNC programing request. Schedule and Facilitate CAB’s when required. Interfacing with engineers and procurement agents via e-mail, telephone and in-person. Reading and understanding published standards which describe detailed testing procedures, and accurately distilling these instructions into internal Work Orders. Reading and understanding Statements of Work, provided by our clients, which outline the scope of a project and include references to published manufacturing and testing standards. Assist in retrieval of machining models and drawings for a variety of test specimens, test fixtures, drill and trim fixtures, fabrication tools, etc. Daily interaction with production team. Writing concise and accurate reports as required. Assist in management of new work projects from startup through completion then release to production. Provide input to Programming on part fixture concepts and design. Establish and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external customers. Investigate, diagnose and execute fixes with team on part/machining issues. Theorize and explore new ideas to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity as it relates to production. Ability to work with many individuals/departments and jump in and out of issues as needed. Interface with Corporate Lean Team on projects and facility layout changes. Other assignments as required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Planners must have a high degree of technical competency, along with strong written and verbal communication skills, to be able to convey complex technical matters in a manner that is clearly understood by laymen, and not subject to misinterpretation. In addition to these skills, the Planning Supervisor must possess the necessary leadership traits to assure the effective, consistent performance of departmental activities Possess administrative skills necessary to direct departmental activities. Ability to develop departmental policies and procedures and the processes for monitoring ongoing compliance. Ability to assess staffing and logistic requirements. Solid technical skills and understanding of machinery and shop floor terminology used by the team. Good understanding of JIT and Lean Manufacturing techniques and philosophies. Strong manager and leader - take charge type of person. Ability to work well with peers. Professional demeanor and presence; self-confident. Ability to be firm but fair, hold people accountable for achieving results and be able to impart disciplinary action when necessary. Should have good communication skills, oral and written. Must have strong work ethics and be a hands-on leader, willing to put in the extra time and effort. Should be an excellent problem solver. Must be well organized, and can prioritize, maintain focus and follow through. Must have good analytical skills. Must have good delegation skills and understanding participative decision making.
