Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in McKinney, TX. a suburb of Dallas. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium- and heavy-duty truck parts sold under Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. For fifty years Dynacraft has provided the company's truck divisions and PACCAR Parts division with high quality components, subassemblies, and specialized services. Dynacraft has production facilities in Louisville, KY, and McKinney, TX.
Dynacraft is looking for a Weld Engineer for the McKinney, TX facility whose primary responsibility will be to improve and develop the welding processes for part fabrication. The facility is currently producing aluminum fuel tanks and has plans to expand operations to include additional subassemblies for Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.
- Responsible for all technical aspects of welding.
- Build manufacturing welding equipment that meets product feasibility.
- Evaluate current welding procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Review designs for manufacturing feasibility, suggest changes to the design to ensure product cost effectiveness.
- Read and interpret CAD data, blueprints, GD&T, CMM reports, customer weld specifications.
- Set weld standards/parameters for new products and follow up with weld testing to meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Ensures all welding processes meet Safety requirements (OSHA).
- Prepare technical reports.
- Apply and utilize manufacturing best practice for efficiency, quality, safety and capability.
- Robotic welding programming to support all shop, facilities and suppliers during the build process.
- Develop good working relationships and effective communication skills with vendors, team members, suppliers and project teams.
- Completion of miscellaneous duties and projects as directed by your supervisor / manager / leader.
- Ability to teach and mentor others.
- Support of weld technicians through participating in the hiring process, professional development, technical resource and mentoring.
- Provide direct support for improved weld efficiency through robotic, equipment or team member development and countermeasures.
- Develop and support Capital projects as identified and required to meet company directives.
- Familiar with weld verification methods, weld testing methodology, measuring devices.
- CAD software preferred.
- Ability to work well with all levels of management.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Candidate must be results oriented, capable of meeting strict deadlines, pay close attention to details, set priorities, have outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal), and be willing to work in a very diverse team environment.
- Excellent computer skills required in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Bachelor's degree of Science in Electrical Engineering, Automated Welding, Welding Engineering Technologies, Mechanical Engineering or Related Fields (will consider Mechanical or Metallurgy Degree with sufficient welding experience).
- 2 years' experience in Robotics, MIG, ARC, TIG, Plasma or resistance welding required.
