Production Artist

Join our Madison, WI team as a Production Artist. This role works closely with the Brand & Creative team in the production of marketing collateral, packaging, owner’s manuals, and other creative projects across all Pacific Cycle brands (Schwinn Mongoose, and Kid Trax), channels, and product categories. Core responsibilities include preparing production-ready artwork files, populating layouts with data, retouching photos, adjusting die line structures, working with print vendors and suppliers to ensure excellent quality output, and maintaining organized digital files.

Below are some (but not all) of the key responsibilities of this role:

• Iterate and modify packaging, ad, web, signage, and other graphic layouts based on an original design
• Develop and adjust packaging structures and die lines
• Organize, review, edit and retouch product, lifestyle, and action photos
• Adjust files for color conversion between CMYK, RGB and spot colors
• Prepare data feeds from digital asset management (DAM) and product information management (PIM) systems to populate layouts with text and image content
• Create renderings of packaging designs and POP displays
• Manage multiple projects and timelines to deliver on tight deadlines
• Take input and direction from Design Manager and Graphic Designers to realize the creative vision
• Prepare error-free files with a meticulous attention to detail on all aspects: organization, design, production
• Concept and refine packaging die line structures to display products in a creative manner
• Maintain meticulous organizational structure and file naming for digital assets
• Assist with project management, ensuring projects flow smoothly across the creative team and with external resources

Education & Experience Requirements

This role typically requires at least 3 years of professional experience in print production or a similar creative role, preferably in sporting goods/toy/consumer goods companies.

• Must have a portfolio of work that shows strong examples of print production, layout, and packaging projects
• A degree in Graphic Design or a related field is highly preferred
• Passionate about printing and design with strong technical skills and an eye for visual composition and color
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications. Emphasis on Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
• Fluent in current macOS computer systems
• Solid understanding of digital and offset printing processes and preflight
• Experience with Esko Studio, EasyCatalog, 3D software, project management, DAM systems, or Asian manufacturing is beneficial
• Extremely organized and detail-oriented, must maintain neat file structures and be able to spot errors
• Ability to ideate with team members, verbally articulate thoughts, communicate with sketches and visual examples
• Customer/client centric attitude and behavior with internal and external clients
• Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure on-time delivery
• Willingness to learn, adapt, understand and apply organizational methodology of the department
• Team spirit, positive attitude, with good sense of humor
