Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.

The University currently offers the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine enrolling a total of 560 medical students with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region.

PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south-central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. PNWU is seeking applications for the position of Regional Site Administrator in Anchorage, Alaska (1.0 FTE/Full Time). 

General Summary:
Assist in the development and operation of Regional Sites, point person for students, faculty, and regional administration. Supports the Regional Assistant Dean locally and takes direction from the Director of Clinical Education.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Use of independent judgment in the negotiation of preceptor payments for core rotations.
  • Provides region with policy and operating practices as it relates to the administration of student activities.
  • Authority to waive or deviate from established policies and procedures without prior approval.
  • Monitor rotation evaluations for completeness assuring information is accurately recorded in E*Value and contact preceptor for delinquent evaluation completion.
  • Proctor COMAT end of rotation exams and ensure scheduling of appropriate exams occurs by working with the PNWU Chief Proctor.
  • Schedule room, track attendance, topics, and attend weekly didactic sessions.
  • Acts as the regional contact for students, faculty, Regional Assistant Dean, and PNWU.
  • Provide consultation and administrative support to students and management as needed throughout for the 3rd & 4th year.
  • Implements the policies and procedures of PNWU-COM as outlined in the student handbook/catalog and process manual to include long or short-term business objectives for the region.
  • Represent the region in handling complaints by working closely with PNWU to involve appropriate parties as needed.
  • Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards.
  • Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Students:
  • In conjunction with the Regional Assistant Dean, develop and schedule third-year clinical rotation schedules.
  • Assist regional and visiting students with fourth-year schedules that take place in all PNWU regions to include required paperwork.
  • Work with other PNWU regional site administrators to secure student rotations not available in the assigned region.
  • Schedule Regional Assistant Dean reviews in the third and fourth year for students assigned to the region.
  • Monitor student schedules to assure all courses for graduation requirements are met.

Adjunct Clinical Faculty (ACF):
In conjunction with Regional Assistant Dean recruits ACF sufficient for the number of PNWU-COM students in the region.
Assist in obtaining delinquent ACF evaluations of student rotations.
Participate in faculty development programs for ACF (set up, advertising, etc.).
Serves as the administrative point person to assist ACF with paperwork and non-academic issues.

Institutions:
  • In conjunction with the Regional Dean assists in securing rotation locations and affiliation agreements to assure adequate capacity for students assigned to the region.
  • In conjunction with the Regional Dean works with the administration of the facilities where students rotate for credentialing, access, and communication.
  • In conjunction with the Regional Dean deliver orientation to new 3rd year students each academic year.
  • Serves as the administrative point person to assist institutions with non-academic issues.

PNWU:
  • Attend any remote meetings as needed, annual regional site meetings on campus, and annual off-campus meetings.
  • Compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards.
  • Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or PA degree.

Experience:
  • Three to five years of related experience preferred. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience

  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; ability to problem solve by analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct workflow; ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases; and schedule activities and/or meetings.
