The Human Resource Generalist coordinates HR policies and programs with emphasis on recruiting, onboarding, reporting, project management, communication, and data integrity, insuring that the organization is in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In addition, the position works closely with the Director of Human Resources in developing, implementing and evaluating ongoing HR policies, programs, functions, and activities.
This position reports to the Director of HR and is located in Forest Grove.
What you will do
- Manage the administration and maintenance of job requisitions, postings, and encourages best practices for recruitment with an EDI lens
- Lead onboarding processes in person and in the HRIS system
- Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- Analyze HRIS work process design and flow, improve processes and leverage the return on technological capabilities
- Support departmental communication and university self service on website, in HRIS, and in person
- Develop, prepare, generate and analyze ongoing and ad-hoc special reports, effectively utilizing employee data to analyze pertinent metrics and maintain data integrity
- Conduct regular advice, counsel, and training for employees and supervisors on programs and processes; support audits by providing documentation and records
- Manage projects and process improvement, including applying change management experience to facilitate movement to new levels of quality
- Support university policy review, revision, and adherence
- Assist the HR Director in the daily administration of HR services as directed or assigned to advance the mission of the university
- Build, adapt, and maintain tools and reports
- Suggest strategies for process improvements
- Develop and maintain documentation and standards
- Support change management processes within the department
- Train new and existing employees on systems and processes
- Provide support and advice on cross-functional projects
- Participate in team meetings; provide knowledge, support, and advice for interdepartmental process improvements, projects, or policy revisions
- Participate in university volunteer and service opportunities
Qualifications
- Three years of related experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent experience preferred
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification highly desired
- Experience in higher education preferred
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Proficient writing and documentation experience
- Proficient expertise in excel and analytical analysis and reporting
- Proficient understanding of the financial and business acumen to drive profitability
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Proficient presentation and public speaking
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace
- Superior time management skills with a proven ability to efficiently manage multiple, concurrent, time-sensitive projects and priorities
