What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMT position at Pacific West Ambulance?
Pacific West Ambulance
Provider of 911 Ambulance Service to Lincoln County, OR for over 30 years
Pacific West Ambulance on the beautiful Central Oregon Coast has immediate openings for Full time or Part Time EMT's. Excellent opportunity for experienced or brand new providers. Our Ambulance Department responds to approximately 750-950 emergency calls monthly in the 911 system of Lincoln County as well as providing some non emergent and emergent inter-facility transports, often from our two local hospitals to higher levels of care and in some cases utilizing IV pumps and monitoring ventilators.
We also occasionally run a BLS (2 EMT's) staffed ambulance to run calls in our 911 system as a tiered response.
Our EMT's are NOT ambulance drivers but are an important team member that is expected to operate to their full skill set and to assist their partner on every call. We allow EMT's (Basic through Intermediate) to practice to their full scope of practice.
Our Paramedics are not fighting other Paramedics for PIC on scene. We take a team work approach and have developed a patient centered approach with our co responders.
Lincoln County Oregon is known for it's natural beauty and experiences a large population surge during the summer months that often is associated with an increased call volume. Pacific West Paramedics and EMTs work 24 hour shifts (24 on 48 off) and 12 hour shifts (4 on - 4 off) out of 5 posting locations throughout Lincoln County, including: Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport, Waldport, and Toledo. Most posting stations are equipped with a full kitchen, private sleeping quarters, and crew areas with couches, recliners, and TVs.
Housing is a challenge in our area so we allow our employees to reside outside of the county and potentially provide some housing assistance. Areas to look in are Willamina, McMinville, Dallas, Salem, Corvallis, Toledo, and Siletz if you are relocating.
Oregon Health Authority requires NREMT to qualify for EMT reciprocity if coming from out of State.
