What are the responsibilities and job description for the Copywriter position at PagerDuty?
We are looking for a talented demand generation Copywriter to join our growing Brand team. This position will work in close partnership with a dedicated designer (campaigns) to produce creative assets that elevate our position in the market, inspire potential buyers, and drive action.
As an accomplished and creative B2B messaging expert, you will craft compelling emails, landing pages, digital ads, social banners, and other campaign materials, while also working to ideate and develop new directions for the overall PagerDuty brand. You will be the primary owner of all Demand Generation copy and will work closely with the Growth team to build effective, engaging campaigns that advance prospects and customers through every stage of the buying journey. In addition, along with the other designers and writers on the Brand team, you will help us push our creative in new and novel directions, generate new ideas for telling our brand story, and find new ways to bring the PagerDuty brand to life across multiple channels.
Our ideal candidate is someone with strong writing skills who can translate complex, technical topics into unique, compelling, and action-oriented copy. You are familiar and comfortable with phrases like DevOps, site reliability engineering, and incident remediation. You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments. You have worked collaboratively on creative teams, either at an agency or in-house or both. You can shift priorities quickly and deliver great work under deadline pressure. You know what it takes to achieve campaign goals while following consistent brand principles.
THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Own and deliver copywriting for digital campaign assets including emails, landing pages, social media ads, digital ads, webinar abstracts, SEO copy, and other campaign content.
- Transform product messaging and campaign briefs into unique, compelling, and persuasive copy concepts that will inspire our target audience to take action.
- Be an active participant in frequent Brand team meetings and design reviews to aid in the development of new and compelling creative materials.
- Recommend best practices and proactively recognize opportunities to reuse, repackage, and optimize content to maximize return on the company’s Demand Generation investment.
- Monitor and report on how campaign copy performs (for example: click through rates, open rates, conversion rates), perform ongoing campaign reviews, and incorporate learnings into development of future assets.
- Take feedback from multiple stakeholders and thoughtfully apply it to current and future designs.
- Edit and proofread as needed to produce error-free content that adheres to PagerDuty brand and style guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of previous writing experience, translating topics into compelling copy
- A successfully implemented portfolio showcasing your strongest work across digital channels
- Creative background in B2B marketing and/or SaaS
- Strong collaborator and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and projects
- A strong work ethic with a high degree of accuracy, creativity, and follow-through
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude
- Strong communications skills, connecting with various levels of stakeholders and audiences
- Ability to juggle multiple projects while ensuring the quality of creative deliverables.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working at a faced-paced start-up or high-growth B2B technology company, preferably SaaS
- Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams across an organization including demand generation, events, product marketing, and sales
- Experience with Asana and Adobe Creative Suite
